Richard's View Stables WWOOFer Opportunities

Come grow, ride, and build with us.

We are a 120 acre homestead in the beautiful Ottawa Valley, a short walk from the beach and in the midst of the Laurentian Mountains. Two hours west of the City of Ottawa, just off Highway 417. We are converting to greener technologies all the time on our horse farm. We have built our farm from scratch, using mostly sustainable materials from our own property. Last summer we installed a gravity-fed, organically-filtered water system through our woods and to the stables and greenhouse.

Presently, we run a community-oriented stable where we breed and train German Hanoverian Sport Horses and board horses belonging to people who work alongside us like family. We run a Pony Club, a volunteer program teaching horsemanship and riding to youth age 6 - 21 as well as offer riding experience to developmentally disabled individuals.
Equine enthusiasts are welcome to help out with the numerous programs offered, from breeding and training young stock to assisting with the recreational or competitive riding programs offered. Take advantage of the opportunity to increase your riding skills with free access to coaching and the use of a horse.

As a WWOOFer, wishing to join our family, you would have the opportunity to be involved with any of the above mentioned activities as well as ongoing maintenance of the barns and fencing; land clearing; jump coarse development and if so desire, assist with the building of a log cabin in the woods, on our beautiful secluded spring fed lake. All endeavors we hope to pursue this coming season.

Our life is far from total work however, someone is always hungry and ready to take a break with a myriad of rest and play activities for spirit mind and body. Multiple gardens, perennial; vegetable; fruit and herbs abound for those so inclined as well as opportunity to enjoy or learn the art of many crafts such as stain glass; carving; pottery; or painting. Play with our dog Jake or catch frogs in the fish pond. We are also surrounded by rivers and lakes, as well as Algonquin Park, providing wonderful opportunities for hiking, camping and water activities.

More than one, or a couple is welcome as we believe having a friend would be more comfortable for exploring the area on days off.
Private bedrooms; recreation area and bath provided. Vegetarian and non vegetarian meals available.

No specific skills required, just a willingness to share your talents and pitch in and help where needed.
